Call for the 28th edition of the Syva Award International for the best doctoral thesis in Animal Health
We remind you that the call for applications for the 28th Syva Award International is open until 18 February 2025.
Theses that have been defended during the two previous academic years (2023 and 2024) are eligible for submission, except for those that have already participated.
We would also like to remind you that for the past two years now, the Syva Award International is no longer limited to Spanish candidates, but invites all PhDs of any nationality who have presented their thesis in animal health at a university in one of the countries where Syva is present to participate. Since 1998, every year, Syva has been organising the Syva Award International for the best doctoral thesis in animal health.
Through this prestigious award and its total prize money of 25,000 euros granted to 3 young researchers at international level, Syva is committed to :
– Support scientific and technological research in the field of animal health.
– Inspire young scientists who, during their doctoral studies, are dedicated to finding innovative solutions with a tangible impact on animal health and welfare.
– Highlight the work of research teams in academic institutions and research centres that strive to address current and future global animal health challenges.
Are eligible doctoral theses developing any aspect of animal health, with a special focus on microbiology, immunology, infectious diseases or parasitic diseases of animals are eligible.
The theses, with the exception of those already registered in previous years, must have been defended during the 2022-23 and 2023-24 academic years in any country, where Syva is represented whether it is through its subsidiaries and distributors network, a total of 65 countries including, in addition to Europe, others such as Vietnam, Jordan, Japan, Chile, Ecuador and South Korea. The main prize is endowed with 18,000 euros and is given every year. The rules also allow a maximum of two accessits of 3,500 euros each to be granted. The total amount of the Syva Award is therefore 25,000 euros. Syva is fully responsible for the financial aspects of the organisation and funding of this prestigious international award for the best doctoral thesis in animal health.
