It was created in 1977 and since then works to defend the interests of the Spanish companies dedicated to the production and or marketing of veterinary medicines, animal health and nutrition products, and nutritional additives, while also striving to the promotion and development of this industry, representative of an essential and strategic sector for Spain due to its indisputable importance for animal health, food safety and public health.

Veterindustria represents practically all the companies in the sector that put veterinary medicines and products at the service of society aimed at preventing, treating and curing animal diseases, both in livestock and in pets, thanks to research and production of medicines of the highest quality, safety and efficacy to contribute to animal health and well-being, and consequently also to that of society.

In 2008, the Spanish Technological Platform for Animal Health (Vet + i) was created, which, led by Veterindustria, is reference in the sector in the field of national technological platforms.

As representatives of the associated laboratories, Veterindustria maintains communication and collaboration channels with the different public administrations, with the sectoral organizations of producers, veterinary professionals and the academic, scientific and business world, as well as with the media, thus creating synergies that benefit the sector and the entire society.

Syva is a member of AnimalhealthEurope.

AnimalhealthEurope is the association representing manufacturers of animal medicines, vaccines and other animal health products in Europe.

It is a not-for-profit body representing both corporate members and national animal health associations in Europe.

AnimalhealthEurope’s membership covers 90% of the European market for animal health products.

The association aims to highlight the importance of healthy pets and farm animals and to demonstrate the reliability and value of our solutions to society. By ensuring a ready availability of animal health products throughout Europe, we can help optimise health management, while contributing to the sustainability of food production and keeping the companion animals that share our homes free from disease.

AnimalheathEurope stands for:

Availability

Animal medicines will always be an essential part of any veterinarian’s toolkit, and through a harmonised licensing process and single EU market, we can make more solutions available across Europe to help prevent and treat disease in many different animals.

Reliability
Farmers, pet owners and other animal guardians rely on the animal health industry to provide the tools needed to help control and manage disease and to protect animal welfare, while promoting their responsible use to safeguard their efficacy in the future.

Sustainability

Innovation in animal medicines and vaccines is vital for ensuring a more sustainable way of life, supporting more efficient agricultural practices, helping to ensure that our pets remain healthy members of our families, and contributing to the general well-being of all of Europe’s citizens.
