Biosecurity, prevention and bluetongue: key factors for the present and future of the sector

On 26 March, Syva attended the II International Conference on “Biosecurity and prevention in livestock herds – a tool for good times and bad times”, organised as part of the Międzynarodowa Konferencja in Poland.
The event, which was attended by professionals from the sector, was particularly focused on the three fundamental pillars of modern livestock production:
- Well-structured biosecurity
- Prevention as a daily strategy
- Conscious management of herd health
Roger Guix’s presentation on behalf of Syva addressed the current epidemiological situation regarding bluetongue, placing particular emphasis on issues such as:
- The behaviour of the vector during winter
- The risks associated with the bluetongue virus in the current European context
- Its real impact in the field, particularly at the reproductive level
These are aspects that are often underestimated, yet have real and direct consequences for farm productivity. Forums of this kind are key to aligning knowledge, anticipating risks and reinforcing a message that is becoming increasingly clear: prevention is no longer an option, it is a structural necessity for the sector
Thanks to the organisers and to BTV4 for the invitation and for creating such much-needed opportunities for exchange within the sector.
