Syva at iPRRS 2026: Piglet Experts, PRRS Experts!

These days, we are taking part for the first time as Gold Sponsors of the iPRRS Symposium 2026 in Barcelona, with a clear commitment: Every piglet, a reason.
This commitment drives us to listen to the concerns of the sector, stay up to date with the latest scientific evidence, and seek answers at a high-level scientific meeting, where we are contributing three posters addressing PRRS from complementary perspectives.
In piglets, we present the results of vaccination against infection with the Rosalía strain. Following experimental challenge, vaccinated animals showed fewer clinical signs and better growth, mitigating the clinical and productive impact of the infection.
But understanding PRRS also means studying its relationship with other diseases. That is why, in collaboration with IRTA-CReSA, we analysed the relationship between PRRS and PCV2. The results associated early PRRSV infection with increased PCV2 circulation during the growing period, highlighting the importance of PRRS control to optimise vaccination strategies against PCV2.
Finally, we complete this perspective with research in breeding sows, through the study of a candidate vaccine designed to reduce the reproductive impact of PRRS. Following a severe experimental challenge, the vaccine reduced reproductive losses and enabled more than three times as many piglets to be weaned per litter.
These three studies reflect our commitment to the sector: continuing to contribute science to address the challenges of PRRS on farms.
We would like to thank the organisers and all the professionals who joined us for three days of scientific exchange, meaningful discussions and shared challenges.
