Syva Award International 2025 applications are now Closed

The application period for the 28th edition of the Syva Award International officially closed at midnight yesterday, and we are delighted to announce that we have received a record number of theses since the award was established in 1998!

This year, we received 32 theses, of which 23 were submitted by candidates from Spanish universities, while 9 came from institutions outside Spain, including Belgium, Finland, Portugal, the Netherlands, and Pakistan. These results demonstrate that, just two years after opening the award to young researchers from European universities and countries where Syva operates, the Syva Award continues to build its international reputation.

We would like to extend our sincere thanks to all the candidates who placed their trust in us by submitting their work, as well as to their thesis supervisors and academic institutions, who have supported them throughout these years of effort and dedication, contributing to advances in animal health and welfare research.

Next Step: Selecting the Winners

In the coming weeks, an international jury composed of professors and experts from various universities will meet for two days to evaluate the applications and select the winners. They will be contacted before April 14, 2025, and will have the opportunity to travel to León, where they will receive their awards. Additionally, they will visit Syva’s facilities and present their research to an expert audience during the award ceremony we will organize.

The Syva Award International: A Commitment to Animal Health Research

Since 1998, the Syva Award International has annually recognized the best doctoral thesis in animal health, with a total prize of €25,000, distributed as follows: €18,000 for the first prize and up to two runner-up prizes of €3,500 each..

This award reflects our commitment to scientific and technological research in animal health and aims to:

✔ Encourage young researchers to pursue a career in science and to develop innovative solutions for animal health and welfare.

✔ Highlight the work of research teams tackling current and future global health challenges.

✔ Strengthen collaborations between Syva and international academic institutions.
